Wrock for the Environment
I have The Best Idea
Dance the night away to great wizard rock artists while also helping to keep the Finger Lakes region gorges!
Here's What I'm Thinking...
This wizard rock concert will bring together people from all over the area to have a fun night of music and dancing at Ithaca College. Set up right outside the concert hall will be booths dedicated to educating attendees on environmental issues and steps they can take to be more environmentally conscious. We will also be donating half of the proceeds to the Finger Lakes Land Trust, which is a nonprofit organization that helps to protect more than 12,000 acres of the region's wetlands, forests, farmland, grassland, and gorges. The event will be open to everyone, from college students to families. We want this to a be a fun night where attendees can leave feeling empowered to take on the fight for our planet's life.
$1,000 will...
The $1,000 would take a massive weight off of our shoulders. We're a relatively new Harry Potter Alliance chapter, and our budget is pretty small. This will help us pay for the rental of a sound system, lighting, and reimbursing the amazing wizard rockers who come to play. We want this event to be both educational and fun, so the grant will give us the opportunity to invest in supplies for our environmental booths. This will range from information boards to interactive stands.
About me:
I'm Monica Watson, a senior at Ithaca College and co-president of Ithaca College's Harry Potter Alliance chapter. We started last year, and are made up of very committed and enthusiastic members. As an organization, we surprised everyone with our success. Our campaigns so far have been relatively small, and this wizard rock event would be our biggest so far. This is important to us because it would help us make our mark in the Ithaca College and central New York community.
Furthermore, Ithaca College prides itself on it's environmental policies. As students, a respect and need to protect the environment has been instilled in us from day one. This event would allow us, as a chapter, to contribute to Ithaca's green culture. The respect for nature that is prevalent throughout the Ithaca community has really inspired us to want to give back and protect the environment.
